Brooklyn Demme began learning filmmaking from his father Jonathan Demme in Childhood.
Real Hip Hop was celebrated in his family in part due to the influence of his cousin elder Ted
Demme who co-created Yo! MTV Raps. Brooklyn followed his heart into documentary film, using
it as a tool of impact for community healing and justice. Last year the Hip Hop Film Fest
included Brooklyn’s fictional debut Mountain Lion, produced by a veteran of hip hop culture
named Norris War Turtle Branham. This year they are pleased to present a documentary feature
film entitled Diligence, which shows Carrie Jones’ precious victory of protecting her family’s
Afro-Indigenous cemetery in New Jersey
