Maya Cameron-Gordon is an award-winning author and filmmaker dedicated to telling authentic stories rooted in the Bay Area. A graduate of an MFA program in film and recipient of the SFFILM FilmHouse Residency, her work explores identity, community, and transformation.
Her book The Mermaid Princesses, published by HarperCollins and named Best Fantasy Children’s Book by the African-American Literary Awards, is currently being adapted into an animated series. Her directorial debut, What’chu Mixed With?, has earned awards for Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Actress
